A Comedian, A Novel, and A Podcast

Last week's newsletter had links to two articles about managing anxiety, and I got a huge amount of feedback on it. I'm so glad it was helpful, and, to be honest, the fact that you all related to it so much made me feel a bit less crazy and less alone in this madness!

So this week, I have a couple of events that will lift your spirits.

The Southern Festival of Books is happening all week with dozens of author interviews and panel discussions on fiction, non-fiction, history, poetry, middle grade, and children's books. You can find the schedule HERE and if you want to watch an event that has already happened, most of them are available on the Festival's YouTube page

In particular, I am excited to host an event! I'll be talking with comedian, musician, and viral social media phenom Heather Land about her new book, A Perfect 10: The Truth About Things I'm Not and Never Will Betomorrow, Tuesday, the 6th, at 12:30 p.m. Central Time. You can find info on how to join us at the Festival's home page, and we'll be taking questions from the audience!

I also can't wait for the final event in the schedule, a discussion with Kiley Reid, author of the novel, Such A Fun Age. on Sunday, the 11th, at 4 p.m. CST.

And there are so many more for both grown-ups and kids. I know we're all a little zoomed out, but this festival has never been available online before. I'm usually running around downtown Nashville, trying to get from one event to another, but this year, I get to sip my tea and watch them all from the comfort of my couch. The official bookstore for the Festival is our beloved Parnassus Books. Please support them if you end up discovering books you want to buy!

Last week, I had the pleasure of being a guest on The Joy Sutton Show. Joy is a PR expert, media coach, and advocate for people struggling with addiction. She is also a client of mine. In this interview, she turned the tables on me to talk about why I became so frustrated with "diet culture," how I ended up becoming an author and health coach, and what drives my work. She also interviews executive coach, Lolita E. Walker, about her journey and the power in taking a pause. Joy's podcast is a passion project that evolved out of a TV show she hosted a few years ago. This is her first episode. I'm honored to be part of it and so impressed with all of the work she has put in.
